The field of personal training has attracted thousands of participants over the past 20 years as the interest in fitness has grown rapidly. Unfortunately this rapid expansion has attracted many so-called professional organizations that offer various forms of "certification". Many of these require very little specific training or knowledge to obtain the "certification". The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) established the Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) designation in 1994. To earn this designation, the candidate must pass a four hour written examination prepared by practicing experts in the personal training profession. The NSCA-CPT is the first personal training credential to become nationally accredited.
Both John Dur, owner, and Lindsay Chase, manager, hold the NSCA-CPT designation. Other Henniker Fitness Center employees are certified in Nautilus equipment training and use.
Henniker Fitness Center offers 45-minute personal training sessions by Lindsay or John, both NSCA certified personal trainers, for $35 for members or $45 for non-members. Five sessions available for $150 members and $200 non-members.
Every new member is entitled to an orientation. We'll discuss your goals and physical condition, instruct you on the proper use of all our machines, and advise you on a personal workout routine. This orientation is offered as part of your membership, but is not mandatory if you're already familiar with the machines.
Want to kick your workout up a notch?
We offer personal training sessions and packages with our certified personal trainers.
Our state-of-the art security and surveillance system allows members 24 hour access to our facilities 365 days of the year. Now you can work out at your convenience around the clock, even on holidays!
For your safety, both doors are locked and members will need a key tag and a swipe card to enter. Our surveillance cameras cover the entire facilities (except restrooms and change rooms, of course), can be monitored remotely and are also continuously recorded for later review. We also supply panic buttons which can be worn during your workout and will immediately sound an alarm and call police. Panic buttons are also available in the restrooms in case of emergency.
Finally, an AED machine is located on the wall next to the front desk in case of emergencies. Opening the cabinet door will sound an alarm and call 911 automatically. This external defibrillator is entirely automatic and will instruct the person giving aid on each step of the process.
Phones are located on each floor for emergency calls or to report an incident to management.
Key tags for the outer doors are available for a $15 deposit ($10 will be refunded to you when you return the tag to us).
